My new Idol is a Dentist |

Dr S Radmand is not only the guest of London Turkish
newspapers but also the guest of widely read newspapers of Sweden.
Alexandra Pascalidou, who writes in a local newspaper called Metro in
Stockholm, met a person during his flight from Stockholm to London and
dedicated a column to this person Dr S Radmand whose life story she found
astonishing. She titled her column as "my new idol is a dentist"
and continued defining her new idol by saying "My new idol avoids all
the obstacles that come across, keeps looking ahead and reaches success in
a short time with the strength he gets from hopes." Siamak Radmand who is one of the well-known characters
of the Turkish society says, it was quite a pleasant surprise to come
across with an article about him when he started reading the local paper
in Stockholm where he has another surgery and where his family actually
lives. Mrs. Pascalidou starts telling the interesting life story of Dr
Siamak Radmand which we also don't know much about. " On my way to London an elegant gentleman was
sitting next to me. He was sleeping as his long fingers were resting on
his knees. Suddenly he wakes up and I get the chance to meet my idol.
Siamak Radmand is Swedish and originally from Iran Azerbaijan. He is a
dentist with an architecture background. He has two children from his
childhood love, which gave a way to a successful marriage. With great
interest to architecture, Siamak graduates from University of Istanbul but
due to the war between Iran and Iraq he goes to a city in Sweden called
Nynashamn. Mrs. Pascalidou who is impressed with our doctor's
fluency in Swedish as well as his style in clothes speaks well of our
doctor in the rest of her article. "Siamak who wanted to continue his education had
many obstacles. He was asked to attend the lessons of the college all the
way from the beginning even though he had graduated from university with a
diploma. He completes these studies in college successfully by getting
high grades. This was not due to Siamak being a genius this was because he
wanted to prove how ridiculous it was for him to complete a study, which
he had already had a diploma of. The administration of the college blamed
Siamak by saying" It wasn't you who got these grades, it must be your
teachers." since they could Not
believe the high grades he had. Mrs. Pascalidou continues her striking writing by
saying" This shows us that while in some countries people are being
helped just as watering flowers which are in need of help, on the other
hand in some countries the opposite is being done." as she goes on
writing about Dr Siamak Radmand's fight to have education. " As a graduate of Istanbul Mimar Sinan University
Siamak after the college exams, he was asked to take another exam of
efficiency in his profession and most of all he was made to re-study in
the same field in order to continue his career. I believe that, no matter
how much a person loves his career this love cannot make him study all
over and get a second diploma from the same field of study. Not receiving
any replies from his job applications, Siamak was forced to seek other
fields. After deciding on studying dentistry Siamak comes across with
different reactions from the college administration. "Why do you foreigners have this big urge to
study...why bother so much since there are many job opportunities such as
cleaning in hospitals?" To this reaction Siamak did exactly what they
said and started working at hospital and did translations from his
language to Swedish and vice versa but he did something they didn't expect
him to do: he continued studying at the dentistry faculty at the same
time. After years of struggle it was time to graduate once
again. Siamak found himself facing different problems and not being able
to find a chance to work in Sweden as a dentist for a long time while his
classmates found their jobs before graduating. After hundreds of
applications in Sweden, Siamak found himself in London where he has his
own surgery now in which he works with 3 other dentists. He spends half of
the week in London where he spends most of his time being busy with his
patients, writing in newspapers and joining radio programs on the other
hand rest of the week he is again busy with his patients and also with his
family in Sweden. Nowadays, Siamak Radmand is also busy opening his third
surgery here in Sweden." Alexandra Pascalidou, ends her article, in which she
described her 2 hours flight from Stockholm to London interesting since
she found the chance to meet her new idol, with these remarkable words: After all the the struggles or the obstacles it was the English Police who said "Welcome Home!" to Siamak when he got out of Heathrow Airport. Taking his car out of the parking lot of the airport and driving at left and noticing all these details, I couldn't help saying "What a revenge!" but he said this was not revenge it was just the anxiety to lead a successful life. |
