Conference  date :01-07-03

In conjunction with Sure Start Project Dr Radmand participated at a conference held at Hackney Ann Taylor Center on the 1st of July. The conference was held at Queensbridge and Dalston area and was aimed at Turkish and Kurdish families. The main course of the conference was about oral health awareness.

"Generally there seems to be lack of knowledge, on the topic of oral health, amongst the Turkish community. As I always note knowledge is passed down from one generation to another. Groundless fears result from lack of knowledge building a negative aura around the subject of dentists, making it undesirable therefore more than likely to be put off until the last necessary minute. When parents are more than reluctant to visit the dentist then this fear is passed down to the children. We need to inform our children at an appropriate age and about the correct way to care for their teeth. Our children look at us as their role models, so pluck up the courage to visit your dentist regularly and make an effort to take good care of your teeth and gums. In order to be a good role model you need to have the knowledge so it is advisable to read up and possibly research on the subject. This is the reason I am here, to pass on what I know hoping that some of it will stay on your minds and influence you to take better oral care of  yourself "  Dr Radmand explained and also mentioned that he would continue his campaign for 'Take better care of your teeth and gums'.

Dr Radmand covered various oral health topics and advised the attendees of the conference on the importance of good oral care. Many oral health problems were clarified and brought to attention with the aid of slides and video camera images making the conference interesting and informative. The conference attendees participated with the questions they asked and contributed to the conference with the remarks they made.
